What's up Doc
Status update on Diet D (previously known as Heavy D, but ya know - Cancer.)
Dad received his 8th round of chemo this past Wednesday (7/11). All systems were a go.
Turns out, Dr. Shohara, that sneaky SOB - reduced one of the chemo drugs in the last infusion to see if it helped with Dad's blood work, cold sensitivity, neuropathy, fatigue, appetite, etc.. And thank god for Dr. Shohara's sake, the adjustment seemed to work terrifically (I wouldn't have wanted to deal with Mom if it was the opposite - ya feel me?). With the adjustment we all seemed to notice less cold sensitivity and not as rough of a crash post chemo. One could even say Dad's appetite is back to "normal." If normal is smashing 6 lemon bars in 5 seconds flat.
We're still on track to complete 12 rounds of chemo. Puts us roughly at the middle of September. We'll then do another CT/PET scan, and Dad will take a 3 month chemo free holiday. There will be some repeat scans sprinkled throughout while we monitor for symptoms and decide on cancer maintenance.
Mom and Dad asked Dr. Shohara for a referral to have some genetic testing done. This will take place in the next few months and may or may not answer any family hereditary concerns we all might be having.
If anyone was curios I am now doing chemo pump removals for time. My PR is 4 minutes and 46 seconds. Shootin' for under 3 this next go around.
Keep ya posted.
All the love, MC
