What's Cookin', Good Lookin'?

Dad received his chemo port this past Friday (3/2). Procedure went well, no issues and he was home within' a few hours nappin'. The port allows the Docs to administer the chemo, draw blood, provide fluids - the whole 9.

The crew heads to Kaiser this Wednesday (3/7) for Dad's first round of chemotherapy. Just a reminder that FOLFOX is Dad's chemo cocktail of choice, but the rest of us might opt for a round of Bloody Marys - TBD.

Once the unknown is known, and we all know what to expect from chemo - I think are anxiety as a unit will decrease a bit. Then we can start chatting chemo pal action with all of you :)

I won’t lie to you all - I semi equated a doctors prognosis with that of a w eather mans forcast. A true  guess-timation at best. With the underlying knowledge that 9 times outta 10, the f**ers always get it wrong. But. Here  we are. A year to a T from prognosis -  and there’s a shit ton of snow on the ground. Ten days pre snowpocalypse were spent at Le Spa de KP. Known to commoners as, Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital. We rolled in Vegas Dave style and snagged the corner suite. A city view. Personal living area (or so we claimed it). And what seemed to Mom and I, as endless amounts of shitty hospital coffee made specifically for us.  But as all Vegas goers know, at some point you’ve had a little bit too much fun. Supposed to do?

Was I supposed to accomplish something this year..? Was I supposed to somehow manage to find peace in your death? Was I supposed to find God? Was I supposed to be stronger, better, a rock? Was I supposed to pack, unpack and repack my over 50lbs of emotional baggage? Spoiler alert, Dad. I did none of those things. And let me tell ya, that extra $100 dollars in baggage fees issa real bitch. So what did I do?  Well. I resented and avoided. I pushed away. I pretended and deflected.
